The Orthodox church is a world wide church. Immigrants to Australia brought their church, language, customs and culture with them. You may know of the Greek Orthodox church, Russian, Romanian etc Orthodox churches. These churches are the same church, it is just the language and national customs and cuisines that change. Holy Transfiguration is an Australian Orthodox church, although a better way to describe the church is Orthodox in Australia, since the Orthodox church is the same in whichever country they reside. Our church is under the leadership and care of the bishop of the Antiochian Orthodox archdiocese in Australia, New Zealand and the Phillipines, Metropolitan Basilios.
